TDM-Process-Model
Building on our many years of experience in test data management, Trimetis GFB has developed a procedure model for setting up a test data management system like a project.
Step by step, these stages describe what is required to successfully reach your goal—from planning, recording your ACTUAL state, and defining your objectives to implementing processes, selecting/introducing tools, defining roles, and much more.
The necessary procedure is also set out, basics and techniques that support this process. This procedure is not only considered from a technical perspective of test data management, but also describes the tasks of the project manager along the project phases in the TDM environment in order to complete this method.
We therefore offer the company a proven and flexible procedure model for the introduction of a test data management system. The TDM process model significantly reduces the effort required to plan the introduction / adaptation of a test data management system.
TDM-6-Step-Model
Well functioning test data management passes through several processes. The TDM-6-Step-Model shows the individual levels of the tried and tested target process of Trimetis GFB’s test data management. Using the TDM-6-Step-Model provides enterprises with a time-tested end-to-end model of continuous test data management, customised to the enterprise requirements before its introduction to achieve an optimum result for test data coverage.
Level 1 consists of analysing the requirements on the test data to be created and of evaluating the affected data sources / data sinks. In addition, it defines the objectives of test data management and examines the framework conditions of test data generation and provisioning (such as business processes, system architecture, data and transaction volumes).
Based on the results of level 1, level 2 designs how to generate the actual test data. Depending on the analysis result, it defines a suitable generation strategy (such as synthetic generation, sub-setting, or anonymization of production data) for the various data sources and targets.
In level 3 we define the necessary steps for provisioning the generated test data. Typically, this includes deploying existing data to the target systems, updating time stamps and/or performing “time journeys” for the affected test data, or converting existing data into another format.
Comparing the created test data and/or “result data” of the performed tests in subsequent test cycles is essential to determine whether the test results are correct and the test objectives have been achieved.
Test data documentation is an important component of the test data management process to ensure re-usability of created test data and to prove proper generation and provisioning of test data for defined test cases.
Similar to test data documentation, test data archiving is an essential component of test data management for repeated and traceable execution of past testing scenarios to, e.g., enable repetition of a past test under exactly the same conditions (for compliance reasons, for instance).
Using the TDM-6-Step-Model provides enterprises with a time-tested end-to-end model of everyday test data management, customised to the enterprise requirements before its introduction to achieve an optimum result for test data coverage.
TDM-Modular-Concept
The TDM-Modular-Concept describes the total end-to-end process for setting up Trimetis GFB’s test data management system. This total approach consists of the individual modules from the TDM-Modular-Concept, which you can use in their entirety or combine individually to universally implement a TDM project.
In essence, the TDM-Modular-Concept flexibly adapts to the enterprise’s project planning, regardless of the stage your project is in when starting the TDM-Modular-Concept.
TDM-Cockpit
When designing a test data management process, there are always “SMART” targets to be achieved. These targets—or success criteria—are made measurable within the TDM-Cockpit and monitored before, during, and after introducing the test data management system.
Even in normal test data management operation, the enterprise can leverage the TDM-Cockpit to keep an eye on all success-critical parameters and, in case of deviations, initiate controlling activities at any time. This ensures that the area of test data management is always under control.
TDM-Benchmark
During the TDM-Benchmark we offer to leverage our many years of experience in test data management to examine the business processes for generating test data from a technical and a process maturity perspective.
In a next step we compare and assess the processes with the experience of Trimetis GFB’s consultants and with currently available test data management to then optimise the different test data management areas or to adapt them to new requirements.
The TDM-Benchmark is able to identify spots where the three pillars of time, money, and quality can be optimised in no time at all.
